Coronavirus Update

First, let us release any power we give to fear and affirm that our developing Wisdom will provide us the guidance we seek in taking care of ourselves and our loved ones. And so it is. Amen

Dear Friends,

Yesterday, we published a newsletter updating you on our continued assessment regarding the Coronavirus, COVID-19. Since then, we added some additional precautions.

As mentioned in yesterday’s newsletter, we feel that it is important, as the spiritual home of many, to embrace the opportunity to provide peace and comfort amidst global concerns while carefully evaluating a course of action based on the recommendations of reputable sources.

Protecting Yourself and Others

As such, we will follow the recommended precautions communicated by public health officials:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Precautions for Sunday, March 15

As of now, we will hold a Sunday morning service to provide comfort and support to our community. The following precautions are taken:

  1. At 10:30 AM, we will meet to wipe down and sanitize the sanctuary building and beyond to prepare for Sunday services and activities. Those willing to help, please be on time so that we can coordinate the efforts.

  2. No physical contact and respect everyone’s choice to keep their distance. When greeting, choose alternative methods such as, a smile, a nod, or the Namaste greeting.

  3. Keep a (social) distance. We are fortunate to have a large sanctuary, which allows our community to spread out and keep a distance. Please bring items of clothing, etc. to signal your preferred boundary (e.g., minimum 3 to 6 feet).

  4. Prayer chaplains will be available (as they choose to serve) for prayers at a distance. Please do not enforce holding hands.

  5. The meet & greet segment in our service will be temporarily suspended.

  6. For the closing song, instead of holding hands, place your hands on your hearts and connect with each other in this powerful way.

Overall, respect each other's wishes as we all have the right to choose to approach our personal health and safety in the way we deem best for us.

Some additional changes:

  • Fellowship Hall closed: Our fellowship hall will remain closed this Sunday for extended cleaning. We ask congregants to gather in the remaining common areas (observing social distance), outside, or off-campus.

  • Youth & Family Ministry Sunday experience suspended: The Youth & Family ministry will suspend its Sunday experience while the nursery remains available for our youngest members. You may bring your children to the service, observing the requested social distance.

  • Meditation & Healing Circle available: Our Peace Chapel will remain open for those who choose to come and meditate or participate in the healing circle. You may also ask for healing from a distance by sending in your request to pray@unityfortworth.org.

  • Other groups and gatherings: Other groups and gatherings are invited to communicate with their group leaders and participants as to their assessment whether they want to meet. Please make sure you provide your own sanitation before and after the meeting.

Sick or Immune–system Compromised?

If you are sick, think you are sick, or your immune system is compromised, please follow the recommendations of public health authorities and do not expose yourself to greater risk, stay home, and be safe.

Your Choice, No Judgment

We want to emphasize that it is everyone’s individual choice to either join us in person and observe the above precautions or watch our service live from the comfort of their homes. No staff or volunteer are required to serve if they choose to stay home. Also, if you come in person, do not hesitate to express your boundaries. We will honor each other’s choices without judgment and bless each other for the Wisdom we have.

Live Stream

As we have done for many months, we will livestream this Sunday service @ 11 AM as planned. If you have not been part of our online community yet, this is the perfect time to join. It is very easy to watch the live stream. From any device, go to our Facebook page (facebook.com/unityfw) and click on the live stream post as soon as it pops up. If you like our Facebook page, you will be reminded when it begins. Our plan is to have a full music program, message, and meditation available for you.

Donations

As we release the power we give to not having enough, we recognize our Divine ownership of pure Abundance, vitalized by our Generosity. We give as Source as we embrace the reality of having enough. Together we claim that reality. And so it is Amen.

As some of you may choose to remain home but would like to contribute as usual or as you are moved, you may do so in the following ways:

We understand that some of you may be concerned about your regular stream of income. As for many of us, the cost of operations, whether it is a private home or an organization such as UFW continue regardless. We are holding all of us in prayers as we affirm that we are not only part of prosperity, but Abundance itself.

Prayers

As our desire for prayer may increase during this time of concern, we have established additional ways to share our prayer requests:

Any prayer requests, including those left in our prayer box during Sunday service or in the office during the week will be prayed over by our prayer chaplains, LUTs, and senior minister.

Remembering Who We Are

Let us remember who we are in the midst of these opportunities. Whenever we fall for fear, we release the power we give to it. Whenever we try to influence others, we choose more intently to quietly listen to our own Wisdom and honor that of others with respect and courtesy. Whenever we see an opportunity to serve, we embrace it as we see fit. We are in charge, we take responsibility, and we honor all.

Warmest blessings,

Rev. Jean-Marie Schweizer
Senior Minister, Unity Fort Worth
