What Now?

Almost perfectly in time for Texas Governor Abbott to announce the phased reopening of our economy in Texas, we were considering our future and how that may look last Sunday. I am sure some of you are wondering how we, as Unity Fort Worth, are going to reopen for in-person services as everyone else is preparing to get back to “normal” life. As you might imagine, this is not an easy decision to make and continues to be dependent on reliable data coming in each day. As such, even the most conscientious decision we may make right now may be overturned by the revelation of some new information.

We have come a long way of following state and city orders while going beyond given exemptions by providing a service completely online, ensuring everyone’s safety at home, without asking anyone to risk their health in service to UFW. While our decision to follow this more stringent policy may have caused some challenges for some, overall, we are encouraged by the positive feedback from our various connections calls to our entire community and beyond.

Such a positive response to our efforts to remain connected, heartens our efforts to remain on the side of safety and wellness when considering reopening. Recognizing that the majority of our congregation may be considered at risk, I am inclined to wait with reopening rather than rushing the process. We are prepared to continue our online services and our many other connection opportunities until such a time all of us are able to return.

Rest assured that no decision regarding the reopening process is made in isolation. Board members, staff, volunteers, myself, the recommendations of our worldwide organization, other Unity ministries, and other religious organizations in our area are all involved in our considerations. It is one of the most heart-opening and caring collaborations across many faiths I have ever experienced, and it strengthens my Faith in finding the perfect way for us to come back together in person in a safe way.

We are strong, we are resilient, and we care: #UFWStrong, #UFWResiliant, #UFWCares.

Remember, that we are here for you. Our offices remain open, our prayer chaplains continue making prayer calls, our pastoral care team continues to offer care services, and our small groups continue to meet without a bleep. Although virtually, we are here for you. And, I am here for you, always. Y’all are in my prayers at all times. I see you safe and sound, exuding perfect Health and Wholeness. I weep with you at your losses, and I celebrate with you at your many wins. I care for you, and I want you to know that you are not alone, ever.

Let us affirm:

My heart is wide and open as I release any worries and concern. I affirm the Truth of who I am as I recognize the Power and Beauty I already am. I am God Grace in full Expression. I am what I seek to be. I am Strength itself offering comfort and care for others. I am Perfect as I am. And as I release any power I give to my fears and limitations without denying their existence, I embrace my entire Reality as the Grace of God it already is. I surrender. I am at Peace. And so it is. Amen.

Take care, be safe, and remember who you truly are,

Jean-Marie
